Duplex speakers

Hi All, I have a chance to pick up eight Deplex speakers, the kind with what looks like a double stacked driver on the back and a little hors speaker in the middle of the woofer. This is a no cost deal, I am helping an old friend clean out his garage. Can this be used for HiFi use? If so, what kind of enclosure would I look for? Thanks.

Igor : I suggest you look at the enclosure plans in Altec's Enclosure Manuals :

For a great low end you will want enclosures with 7 to 8 cubic feet of volume.

Yep, just got confirmation that they are Altecs. Don't know what I will do with them all or even if they work. I'll have them by this weekend and let you all know. Thanks.

Oh, you are very lucky, you got eight Duplex speakers. If they are Altec speakers, they are Altec 604 duplex speakers. Of course, they can be used for HiFi use.

Hi, I'm having difficulties with my duplex Altec, which seems to be a very rare item.
A normal duplex has this little horn in the middle of the 15" bassspeaker, but mine has a horn in the 15" which sticks out for about 30 cm.
Does anyone know what kind of speaker this is. My diaphragm is burnt. I want to have a new one, but Idon't know where to get one.
It's a 1 and a quarter " 299 diaphragm.
Can anyone help me out?

Igor, let us know what model they end up being, Altec made all kinds, 602, 604, 605, etc, I'd love to find mate for one of my 604-8G and 604C drivers if you end up with too many, I'm near Ann Arbor in case you need any help, good luck, Dave.
